About Anya

I’ve been directing and producing my own shows since I was five. From assembling my own Spice Girls to running around my home town (Omsk, Russia) with a camcorder. Moving to New York was a dream. I wanted to pursue fashion photography but my life took an unexpected twist. For over a decade I immersed myself in studying hip-hop dance of and on the dance floors.

A group of dancers performing on stage in dark lighting, wearing casual clothing with some in red shirts and others in patriotic-themed attire, striking dynamic poses.

My incredible experience included documenting theater productions, rehearsals, and community events while also creating impactful advocacy campaigns. In 2018 I was offered to produce pro-bono events, providing headshots for 50 dancers three times a year. With the support of my team I built a roaster of over 100 volunteers and sponsors. As well as creating a partnership with Hasselblad and Broncolor hosting events for photographers to learn lighting techniques. Learning lighting for me was always tough because I didn’t have access to equipment so I wanted to create space especially for women to learn in none intimidating environment.

Even though I started as a photographer I was always interested in video. In 2021, I left the organization to focus on video production, working as a camera operator and editor in the event and editorial space. I got a privilege to work with Vogue, Ebony Magazine, and Newsweek. In 2024, I premiered my first short film, “A Fully Embodied Woman”, at the Video Art and Experimental Film Festival.

In 2025, I created Nouveau Motion, my personal take on content. My best asset has always been my ability to respond to prompts and generate original ideas. After working as a photographer, videographer and editor I felt well equipped to transition to directorial role. This is an exciting new chapter for me and I’m looking forward to working with brands in this new capacity.
